35 Delicious Italian Dishes To Prepare at Home by Pamela Kazmierczak

Prolific cookbook writer Pamela Kazmierczak offers this e-book of 35 Delicious Italian Dishes To Prepare at Home, with the subtitle The Amazing Homemade Italian Food Collection, which is her third volume in The Italian Cuisine And Italian Recipes Collection.  It is roughly 95 pages long.

The recipes are generally richer in calories and ingredients than normally used in Italy.  You could say the recipes were adjusted to make them more palatable to a non-Italian palate, a palate that is used to heavier dishes that make a one dish mean, rather than a lighter dishes making up the Italian multi-course meal.  And many no-bake dishes are included, to cut time for the busy cooks who don't have a nonna to do their cooking for them.

In the prologue, the author explains:
This book is all about rich Italian dishes which are full of flavor.  Meals that can become staples in your home for Sunday dinners or any other time.

Some of the recipes use ingredients that are new to Italy, but growing in use there, like whole wheat pasta,  pasta integrale.  Healthy eating is a growing trend in Italy too!  The author speaks mainly to the people in the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the U.K., I'd say, which is fine.  But she does not skimp on the Italian flavors that we all love.  She interprets Italian recipes for the modern cook, who has to do most of the shopping at a supermarket, and has less time to cook than ever before.

The instructions are clear and helpful.  I found just the first recipe a bit odd, because the author assumed people might have easy access to a brick pizza oven!  I wish!!!  The recipes are mixed together:  soup, meat, pasta desserts.  And there is no index, but I didn't mind wandering through the recipes to find inspiration.

The use of languages is eclectic: some French, Spanish and Italian.  But to the person who lives in a multi-cultural society, rich with influences from around the world, the text is easily understandable.  No instructions for salting the eggplant to remove the water. Does no one do this anymore. Only a few parts when the text was a bit confusing, nothing serious.
